My favorite non-coding web-/podcasts

I’d like to present my favourite podcasts (audio+video), because many people still got no grip at the whole podcast stuff, so maybe the like some of the casts I view/hear. I am splitting the list in two blogposts, because I’d like to handle the development related casts in a seperate posting.

So let’s begin:

Mahalo Daily
http://daily.mahalo.com/feed/
More or less daily casts where Leah D’Emilio presents interesting topics in a humorous way. Short casts and fun to watch. (~5 Min each)

GeekBrief.TV
http://www.podshow.com/feeds/gbtv.xml
Calli Lewis presents daily tech news and other interesting bits of information. (~5 minutes)

“Loaded” from CNET TV
http://feeds.feedburner.com/cnet/loaded
Natali Del Conte presents also daily news but slightly different ones usually. (also~5 minutes)

The Digg Reel (HD Quicktime)
http://revision3.com/diggreel/feed/quicktime-high-definition
Digg Reel is a summary of high rated videos on digg.com. It’s pretty funny and it saves a lot of time, searching for funny videos. You just get them all at once. (takes ~10-15 minutes)

Diggnation (Large Quicktime)
http://revision3.com/diggnation/feed/quicktime-large/
Diggnation is a great weekly show where Alex Albrecht and Kevin Rose talk about stories that got high ratings on Digg.com while drinking beer. Very funny show. A must-see. (~1hour)

Bier und Tech Videocast
http://www.bierundtech.de/?feed=rss2
German podcast somehow similar to diggnation (news+beer). Takes place in Cologne. Topics tend to be very Mac related but they try to also include other topics ;-) They don’t have a very schedule so checkout the feed or the site for new shows. (~1 hour)

YouTube :: Videos by AtGoogleTalks
http://www.youtube.com/rss/user/AtGoogleTalks/videos.rss
Google Talks is a great channel with many different videos from talks at the google hq’s. Normally there are authors that talk about their books but also scientists or other important people are there to give nice talks. Topics go from Novel XYZ to global warming and how it may be stopped. Definitively worth a try! (~1 hour)

The Totally Rad Show (Large Quicktime)
http://revision3.com/trs/feed/quicktime-large/
Another weekly show of Alex Albrecht. He and his buddies Jeff Canata and Dan Trachtenberg talk about movies, TV shows, video games and comic books. Plus they have a small intro in each episode where the three show that they can be very funny actors ;-) (~1 hour)

X-Play’s Daily Video Podcast
http://www.g4tv.com/xplay/podcasts/6/XPlay_Daily_Video_Podcast.xml
Small casts about computer games. Sometimes reviews/previews of games or other games related topics. (~5 mins)

BuffedCast
http://feeds.feedburner.com/BuffedCast
A german audio podcast for MMORPG related games produced by the team of buffed.de. The focus is still WoW, but the other MMOs are slowly increasing their importance in the show.

Quarks & Co
http://podcast.wdr.de/quarks.xml
German science show with Ranga Yogeshwar. (~1hour)

ScienCentral News: Making Sense of Science
http://www.sciencentral.com/podcasts.rss
Science related news (~3-5 minutes)

Experiment of the Week
http://krampf.blip.tv/rss
Robert Krampf presents nice experiments to explore science. The experiments are pretty simple and they explain mostly stuff you should have learned at school, but he has a nice way of explaining and showing things. (~5 min.)

Category5 Technology TV
http://vodcast.category5.tv/main.rss
Robbie Ferguson hosts the show. He gives advice in Linux and windows problems, tests software and hardware. I sometimes skip parts of the show, but sometimes it’s pretty interesting. (~1 hour)

Linux.com
http://linuxcom.blip.tv/rss
Mostly interviews from conferences with companies or people that are active on open source. Bad: often poor quality. (~ 5-15 minutes)

Linux Journal
http://linuxjournal.blip.tv/rss/itunes/
OpenSource related casts (~ 5-15 min.)

So that’s it. These are my favourite podcasts. You can add them all for example to Miro, and watch them there. Do you know any podcasts that you like? Post them in the comments!
